Jimmie Davis Parker negotiates $9.8 million class action settlement for 80,000 California renters

Robinson Markevitch & Parker partner Jimmie Davis Parker, as counsel to a putative class of over 80,000 renters, reached a $9.8 million settlement with MG Properties, a major California landlord. The renters alleged that MG Properties improperly withheld tenant security deposits and charged unlawful late fees. The case settled after lengthy litigation for $4.8 million in cash and $5 million in other relief. The Court has preliminarily approved the settlement and it is awaiting final approval.
